All eyes will once again turn to Zurich from September 22 this year. The comeback of the cinema is to be celebrated. The 11-day Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) entices tens of thousands of movie fans and media and film workers to Zurich to watch one or more of the festival’s 160 movies. Young directors compete for the ‘Golden Eye’ in the competition section, and the Gala section sees legendary directors and Hollywood stars present the year’s most anticipated movies, including those such as ‘The Power of the Dog’ and ‘No Time To Die’ that stand a great chance of winning an Academy Award. The festival also presents cutting edge movie line-ups that reflect current world affairs, such as ‘New World View’ and ‘Border Lines’. The ZFF is the most important autumn festival for theatrical releases in the German-speaking world, and an ideal networking platform. In 2019, the Zurich Film Festival recorded 117,000 spectators and due to the pandemic 102,000 in 2021. This year, for the entire duration of the festival, the ZFF will be playing in the Zurich Convention Center - a centrally located venue at the lake with over 1300 seats, which gives the ZFF the opportunity to grow significantly. Viewers and guests alike value the festival’s fantastic atmosphere in the heart of Zurich. ‘No other festival has managed in the short time since its founding to attract as much worldwide attention as the one in Zurich,’ wrote the Hollywood Reporter. ‘If Cannes and Venice are the grandmothers of the European festival scene, ZFF is the trendy teenager,’ reported The Guardian.
